Pavilion “Better Water - Best Urban Life” for the Wold Expo Shanghai 2010

„Better City, Better Life“ is the motto of the World Expo Shanghai 2010, which expects more than 70 Million visitors. ecos has elaborated the concept for the content of the joint pavilion of Basel, Geneva and Zürich. The three Swiss cities showcase, how they have brought their water to a very high quality level and what they undertake to keep their rivers, lakes and drinking water clean and attractive. The pavilion provides know-how and emotions in any dimension of experience.

Carbon Finance Capacity Building in Emerging Mega Cities of the South

The 3-year program aims at motivating and empowering public administrations of emerging mega cities in developing countries to facilitate the development of greenhouse gas reduction projects on their territory and thus to gain access to know-how and funding from the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
World Clean Energy Awards

The inaugural World Clean Energy Awards were presented at the 2007 Faktor 4-Festival in Basel. The awards recognised the achievements of the best projects worldwide in the implementation of renewable energies. A renowned jury presented the awards to the new recipients of the first "Energy Oscar" from a field of 70 nominated candidates. ecos designed and carried out the World Clean Energy Awards and is responsible for organising sponsors and communication. ![]()

Philias is a company whose mission is to promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Philias has positioned itself as an expert in partnerships between non-profit organisations and businesses in Switzerland. In this context, Philias, in collaboration with the economic magazine Bilanz, organises every year in Geneva the “Humagora”, a dialogue platform which has for main objective to create links between NGOs/NPOs and companies wishing to get involved in the community. Furthermore, Philias offers a variety of consulting services in the field of corporate social responsibility to the members of its network.

Switcher Climate Project
Duration: since 2005

In May 2007 Switcher launched a project to sell 500,000 climate-neutral pieces of clothing. The CO2 emissions will be offset through Gold Standard emission reduction certificates. Not content to merely compensate emissions, Switcher will also reduce emissions along the production value chain. This will occur by increasing energy efficiency, by using renewable energy sources and by participating in climate-protection projects near the production sites.

KlimaPro

This is a test project to investigate the feasibility of developing a widely-accepted set of standards, including procedures and criteria, for making products climate neutral. The standards are to be developed together with the relevant stakeholders such as customers, companies, climate service providers, NGOs and government bodies. The working title of this project is KlimaPro (climate pro). 
Promotion of everyday physical activity

1. How can general practitioners and physiotherapists be motivated on a wide base to integrate the effective approach of medical questioning and consulting in their everyday practice?

Faktor 4-Festival

Performing the project management, communication and media work for the annual Faktor 4-Festival, which is the opening event for the "sun21" energy forum. The festival is the platform for the largest meeting of the regional energy scene. In 2007 the first World Clean Energy Awards were presented during the Faktor 4-Festival.

Conducting project management, communication and media work for the first motorised crossing of the Atlantic without using a drop of oil. This new world record was achieved by the solar boat "sun21" from the club transatlantic21. The project's goal was to prove the huge potential of solar technology in powering ship transport.

Policy Principles and Guidelines for Private Sector Participation in Sustainable Water and Sanitation: development and coaching of the project as well as involvement in the controlling board. ecos, among other things, was the manager of a several-month international "multi stakeholder process" in order to negotiate, with affected parties and participants, the basic principles of a fair participation of private individuals in the financing and realisation of water projects.
